Ten years ago, Renato Shaffer created a team of bicyclers and its crew:  Team 2 Cure Huntington’s Disease to save his family from Huntington’s disease (HD). His family’s misfortune has birthed a decade long quest to spread awareness and raise money for research to fight HD.  As a primary fundraising effort: Team 2 Cure HD has competed in the 2006, 2007 & 2010 Race Across America as well as the Race Across the West in 2008.  The Race Across America is a 3,053-mile, coast-to-coast, non-stop bicycle race beginning at the pier in Oceanside, CA and finishing at the Boardwalk in Annapolis, Maryland.

In 2015, Renato was inspired by his two daughters, wife Sharon, and their continuous daily battle with Huntington’s disease and the optimism felt by researchers, he recommitted to the enormous undertaking that is the Race Across America.  The race began on June 20th 2015 and the team was featured in an award-winning documentary, information can be found here.
